Amalia Watty

about

Amalia has one of those voices you just don't forget. Whether you hear her on the radio or in concert, (or drawing raves on American Idol!) her distinctive tone and spellbinding style stay with you. She's irresistible, and certain to usher in her own trend - a female Passenger meets Pharell Williams meet Corrine Bailey Rae.

Amalia is from Anguilla in the Caribbean. She's an island girl who didn't swim, a tomboy who loved to climb white cedar trees. She woke naturally with the rooster's sound, roaming through farmland and forests, singing as she gathered her own lemongrass leaves for bush tea.

An accomplished dancer, Amalia traveled throughout the islands performing spiritual dance. She's a wild child who was a good girl and this combination of strength and tenderness comes out in her songs.

After attending University in New York, she immediately focused exclusively on her music - busking daily in New York City's subways with other musicians. For now, this is where Amalia has set up her rehearsal

space. At night, she plays out in New York, on stages such as The Blue Note, US Open, The Bitter End, Live From Oz at The Hudson Hotel, Rockwood Music Hall, The Soho House in West Hollywood and the Cafe Royal in London.

Amalia’s refreshing, organic quality drew Los Angeles based producer/ songwriter Jamie Houston’s attention. (Steven Tyler, Carlos Santana, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Macy Grey, Kid Rock) He felt compelled to produce and write with her and the results are magical.

Growing up absorbing the greats such as Al Green, Billie Holiday, and Bill Withers paid off in Amalia's songwriting. Her evocative, confessional, pop-soul sensibilities have resulted in songs that are radio-ready and totally of the moment.

Like the black and blue-grey feather of Anguilla's native turtle dove, Amalia is light as air, full of promise and hope. She's ready to float out into the universe and captivate.
